S.E. Cupp on Kanye West’s Surreal Meeting With Trump: ‘That Was Really Sad’

On Thursday, CNN’s S.E. Cupp said that President Donald Trump‘s Oval Office meeting with Kanye West was just plain “sad.”

Speaking during a panel following the eventful White House meetup, Cupp suggested the president was exploiting an unwell man.

“All jokes aside, I thought that was really sad,” Cupp began, after host Dana Bash played a clip of the meeting and read a profane quote from the musician made while seated at the Resolute desk. “I think you had there a man who’s clearly not okay and a president who’s willing to exploit that. And worse, to exploit that under the auspicious of race relations and black communities, joblessness, mental health, all the things that ended up in this bucket of issues that were sort of addressed in this free for all.”

Cupp continued: “I don’t know that any of them were very well served by this circus.”

She then made it clear, “I don’t have a problem with the president using celebrities to expose important issues, but the problem is I don’t think any of that happened today because today was bonkers. It was crazy. It was off the rails. How could anything be accomplished in that kind of environment with that little seriousness paid to those very important issues?”

Bash added that what made the scene even more surreal was the fact it was juxtaposed with images of the devastating destruction in Florida.
