‘Shep Smith’ Gets Freaked Out By Mitt & Ann Romney And Their Sons On SNL
Oh, good, Bill Hader’s “shy little possum” Shepard Smith impression is back! Even though we are really all here to see if Lindsay Lohan can keep it together through her hosting gig (let’s be honest), it was a great opportunity to bring Shep back, and reprise Jason Sudeikis’s Mitt Romney impression while they were at it. He was on with Ann Romney, played by Kristen Wiig, ostensibly to talk to Shep about his recent primary victories, but Mitt really just wanted to brag about his Italian leather shoes.
After taking a quick break to address his mother, a dessicated skeleton sitting in a rocking chair (is that…always there when Hader does this impression?) Shep threw it to Romney’s sons, saying “I like creepy things, so I loooove you guys…I’d like to book you a three-night stay in my nightmares!” This is definitely not the first time SNL has poked fun at Romney’s inability to connect with voters in a cold open, but they are doing it well enough that I can’t complain. Also, “A thanks to Stephen King for creating those boys!” is one of my favorite things to ever come out of Bill Hader’s mouth.
