Stephen Colbert To Obama: Controlling The Border With An Alligator-Filled Moat Was My Idea!
Last night Stephen Colbert joined a chorus of conservative critics claiming that Obama’s recent speech on immigration reform in El Paso was nothing but pandering to the Latino vote. But Colbert’s harshest criticism came after airing a clip of Obama suggesting that only a moat filled with alligators would please his harshest critics on border reform. If that tactic sounds familiar to loyal Colbert viewers, its because he’s made the same joke suggestion!
As is so often the case with Colbert, amplifying political hyperbole to absurd and comedic levels is an effective way to draw eyeballs. It is strange however when the President of the United States uses the same technique, but it seems just as effective.
