Steve Bannon Hammers Fox News: If You Work There, You’re Not ‘True MAGA’
The war of words between America First isolationists and the pro-Israel interventionists is ramping up to new and dangerous levels of invective for former partisan allies.
To wit: former Trump advisor and populist MAGA leader Steve Bannon just went OFF on Fox News in a manner that cannot be pleasing to the pro-Trump opinion hosts at the right-of-center cable news network.
The Israeli attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities late last week has led to a stunning Civil War within the MAGA mediasphere, with Fox News host Mark Levin and the Fox News primetime shows going all in supporting President Donald Trump’s approval of Israel’s preemptive-cum-preventitive attack on Iran. On the other side, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson has blasted Rupert Murdoch and several Fox personalities for being “warmongers.”
On Tuesday morning, Bannon doubled down on the anti-Fox sentiment expressed in an interview with Carlson that was released on Monday, which not only insulted Fox but also elicited the sort of return fire in the form of name calling invective from Mark Levin.
“There’s an awful lot of people I notice right now saying how they’re true MAGA and they’re pure MAGA,” Bannon said. “I don’t think anybody at Fox can possibly be true MAG and hardcore MAGA, and the reason is, to be brutally frank, when President Trump had the election stolen from him and had the White House taken away and he went back to Mar-a-Lago for that year of 2021, because everybody at Fox takes a paycheck from Murdoch, you all supported DeSantis and Nikki Haley and whoever else came along as an opportunity to replace President Trump.
“So if you work at Fox by definition, you can’t be true MAGA, it’s impossible,” he continued. “We were here, remember this audience, there was a couple of very lonely days, weeks and months before President Trump I think took to CPAC in Orlando and went back and gave that amazing speech that he was coming back and had thought it through in a month and a half, and we knew he would always come back. You had his back in the darkest days because you believe in President Trump.”
Fox News does not identify as a “True MAGA” outlet, but rather a cable news network that offers a suite of opinion-based programs in prime time, that is vastly pro-Trump in voice and perspective, but not necessarily MAGA or America First.
