Tea Party Host David Webb Hits Obama For ‘Playing Into Black-White Racist Dynamic’ With Zimmerman Speech

Following President Obama‘s surprise appearance in the White House briefing room to discuss the George Zimmerman verdict, Fox host Jamie Colby welcomed conservative radio host David Webb via phone to weigh in on the president’s remarks. Webb called Obama’s move “pure politics” and criticized him taking American “backwards, not forwards” on this issue.

Webb called Obama’s speech “disingenuous” and hit him for “placating his base and the people he needs to play to.” He criticized Obama for putting forth “the idea that the black community is one monolithic block, that most of us, black people, have been profiled. Well, that’s anecdotal at best.” He argued that people are just as likely to “clutch their purses” when “punk rockers who are white with dog collars and spiked hair and tattoos walk by.”

“What the president has done is taken us backwards, not forwards,” Webb continued. “There is racism. You can’t pretend that racism doesn’t exist in America. But you can’t pretend that racism exists everywhere.”

Colby then essentially accused President Obama of ignoring the concerns of white Americans with his remarks. “Was there any benefit to saying the African-American community is impacted negatively by this decision?” she asked. “Does the president not believe that white moms and whites in this country also felt for Trayvon Martin’s family?”

“They can’t have you believe that there are many Americans who fall on both sides of this or different sides of this issue,” Webb responded, “because if they do that, then you can’t play into the black-white racist dynamic.”

Earlier in the week, on the morning after Zimmerman’s acquittal, Webb appeared on Fox & Friends and attacked the NAACP for putting pressure on the Justice Department to pursue a civil rights investigation.
