Ted Cruz Claims Democrats ‘Want More Child Molesters’ in the U.S. – ‘And That Is Not Hyperbole’

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) claimed that Democrats “want more child molesters” in the U.S. and insisted that his comment “is not hyperbole.”

Cruz appeared on Tuesday’s edition of Hannity on Fox News, where he reacted to the shooting in Manhattan on Monday that killed four people, plus the perpetrator, who killed himself.

The Texas senator expressed support for the Second Amendment and law enforcement, and slammed Democrats who call for gun control in the aftermath of mass shootings.

“If you wanna stop violent crime, the way you do it is you support law enforcement,” Cruz said. “And I gotta say, every time I hear Democrats posturing after there is a mass murder, their immediate answer is not to go after the criminals, not to stop the violent murderers, but instead, to disarm law-abiding citizens.”

The senator then claimed that Democrats want more criminals in the country, including those who sexually assault children:

And the position of today’s Democrat party is they want more illegal immigrants in America, more murderers in America, more child molesters in America, more gang members in America. And that is not hyperbole. That is what they are advocating for.

Cruz also attacked Democratic New York mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani and falsely claimed Mamdani “wants to abolish the New York Police Department.”

The senator’s hyperbolic remarks came as President Donald Trump has been trying to distance himself from Jeffrey Epstein, Trump’s former friend and deceased child sex trafficker, who officials claim committed suicide in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019 during the first Trump administration. Last week, the president instructed Republican lawmakers on how to try to steer the news media away from questions about his relationship with Epstein.
