‘They Are Vicious!’ CNN’s Jake Tapper Describes How Trump’s Defense Team Is Going to Come At Michael Cohen Like a ‘Hippo’
While predicting how former President Donald Trump’s legal team would question prosecution witness Michael Cohen, CNN’s Jake Tapper launched into an impromptu National Geographic segment to describe all the violent animals they might channel.
Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer and “fixer,” took the stand on Monday and described his involvement in the “catch and kill” scheme that allegedly resulted in a six-figure hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels being falsely classified as a legal expense. He has already been the subject of attacks by Trump — so much so that there’s a gag order against Trump not to discuss Cohen or other witnesses that he has violated ten times — and Tapper told his legal panel that he could expect an equally “vicious” treatment by Trump’s defense team:
As they know, Kasie Hunt, Daniel Rotstein and Cohen signed the agreement to transfer the rights of the [Karen McDougal] story, but the agreement was ultimately never executed. We know that they know Cohen formed the company Resolution Consultants, LLC, to handle the payment. That’s the shell corporation, Resolution Consultants. It’s one of the two he sets up. We know that they know that the defense is going to come at Michael Cohen like a hippo. Like a rhino, like a giant beast.
Have you ever seen a hippo? Have you ever seen what they do? It’s not a small thing. They are cruel animals. They are vicious. People don’t even know this! Hippos are one of the nastiest creatures in the world. Anyway, they’re going to come at him like a battering ram. They’re going to come at him like a battering ram about his credibility. They’re about to introduce… Whenever they get their shot, they’re going to have, like, an hour’s worth of lies that Michael Cohen told.
You laugh, CNN anchor Kasie Hunt, but Jake Tapper is not messing around, and neither are hippos.
