‘Whoa!’ CNN’s Smerconish Shocked By Trump Results in His Own Poll — ‘I’m Impressed!’

CNN’s Michael Smerconish was shocked by the results of his own poll in which he asked whether it would benefit Democrats to give President Donald Trump “credit” publicly on his accomplishments.

At the end of Saturday’s Smerconish, the CNN host incorrectly guessed the results of his poll, holding a newspaper in front of his face to keep them hidden.

“Okay, Catherine, my producer, just asked me to predict the results, so I don’t want to look at the screen. And I say, I think people who vote will vehemently disagree with the poll question today,” Smerconish said.

The posted question to Smerconish’s website asked if it’s in the political “best interest of to publicly give Trump credit when he accomplishes something with which they concur.”

Out of approximately 36,000 votes, 76% said they agreed it would be in the best interest of the Democrats. Only 24% disagreed.

“Whoa! Okay. Well, you know there’s no cheating,” a surprised Smerconish said.

The CNN host was “impressed” with the results, but then turned to social media, displaying a reaction from one Trump critic who hated the question being posed at all.

“This is your question? Shame on you, do better. How about asking people how they feel about the authoritarian in the White House changing history at the Smithsonian,” an X user going by Sonja commented.

Smerconish laid into Sonja and chalked her up as “part of the problem” for Democrats.

He argued:

You’re part of the problem again among Democrats in that you’re ineffective. If you want to complain about everything then it becomes white noise and and none of the — you know, the tree falls in the forest and nobody even here’s a a thud. I mentioned Smithsonian. I think Smithsonian is a really telling — I called it Orwellian. Or the page one story today about the the labor statistics person getting their walking papers. But as our parents — at least mine did — said: You gotta pick and choose your battles.
