‘I’m Very Upset With Her!’ Trump Bitterly Complains — On Eve Of High-Stakes Election — Rival Broke Promise Not To Run Against Him
Former President Donald Trump is still bitterly complaining — on the eve of the high-stakes New Hampshire primary — that ex-Amb. Nikki Haley broke her vow not to run for president against him.
Trump spoke at a rally in Rochester, New Hampshire, Sunday — right after the news that chief national rival Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) had dropped out and endorsed him. That left only Haley standing between Trump and the GOP nomination for president.
Trump spoke with Fox host Lawrence Jones following that speech. On Monday morning’s edition of Fox & Friends, Jones rolled out that interview, including a clip in which Trump made a point of excluding Haley from his call to unity because he’s “very upset with her”:
TRUMP: I really think this is time now for everybody, our country to come together.
JONES: At your last victory speech, you were very calm. You have this different message of unit right now.
TRUMP: I do. I – well –
JONES: What is that about? Tell me about that.
TRUMP No, not right now. No, I haven’t – I haven’t done anything with – I would say that with Nikki I haven’t done anything. I’m very upset with her!
She said I would never run. He was a great president. I would – he work — she worked for me like two and a half years. And she was OK. Not great. She was OK.
But she said to everybody, in fact, when she left, “I would never run against the president, he was a great president.”
At a press conference in April of 2021, Haley was asked if a Trump run in 2024 would “preclude” her from running.
“I would not run if President Trump ran, and I would talk to him about it,” Haly said, adding, “That’s something that we will have a conversation about, at some point.”
Trump began complaining about that statement right before Haley made her official announcement this year — and he’s still at it.
