Joe Scarborough Mocks GOP Border Flip-Flop: ‘Who Are These Cowards That Will Completely Comply With Everything Dear Leader Says?’
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough doesn’t think very highly of Republicans in Congress who bend to the will of former President Donald Trump, and he had some vivid words to describe them on Tuesday.
While Republicans in the House and Senate openly take their marching orders from Trump on the border bill, despite wanting to pass a border bill and needing President Joe Biden to sign it, they would rather appease the ex-president and deny Biden a political victory ahead of the general election. And Scarborough said that made them “cowards”:
Scarborough: You’ve got Hugh Hewitt, who was for it, but now he’s against it. J.V. Last wrote an article about this. He was for it, but now he’s against it because Donald Trump is against it. Newt Gingrich goes on Fox News last night and says, “This is the worst thing that’s ever, ever, ever, ever happened. That’s the dumbest, stupidest, this, that, and the other.” All because Donald Trump one day, they all like the bill. And then Donald Trump said, “Don’t pass a bill that might hurt me politically.” And now, traitorous, stupid–
Mika Brzezinski: Turn the car around.
Scarborough: They turn the car around. How sad and how pathetic. I mean, if somebody had come up to me when I was in Congress and told me to do that, I would have, I’d have two words for him, and the second would be “off,” and I would keep walking. I won’t even break a stride, and most of the people I served with were that way too. Which again begs the question: Who are these cowards that will just completely comply with everything Dear Leader says?
