‘OMFG What’: Matt Gaetz Stuns With Baffling Tucker Carlson Interview
Pundits and talking heads cannot get over Rep. Matt Gaetz’s (R-FL) interview with Tucker Carlson, which the Fox News host himself called “one of the weirdest interviews I’ve ever conducted.”
The congressman sat down for an interview with Carlson following a New York Times report that broke the news that Gaetz is under investigation for “whether he had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old and paid for her to travel with him.”
Gaetz later responded to the allegation in an interview with Axios’ Jonathan Swan, saying that he and his family are the targets of an extortion scheme by a former DOJ official.
Sitting down with Carlson to address the investigation, Gaetz elaborated on that claim and blasted the allegations against him as “totally false.”
Carlson was stunned throughout the interview, especially after comments Gaetz made invoking the Fox host.
Pundits on Twitter were quick to go after Gaetz following the interview, many joking that it may have dug him even “deeper into a hole.”
I’ll never get over Matt Gaetz being accused of a sex crime and immediately throwing his dad, the FBI and Tucker Carlson under the bus ?

Tucker always does the confused face so I’m not sure that’s super meaningful but yes looks like it

For a second forget that Gaetz is involved in this scandal. Just listen to his Tucker Carlson interview and think a man of the mental age of nine, same maturity level and intellectual depth of a teaspoon is your lawmaker. Think people think.

Oh Tucker is NOT GOING DOWN WITH YOU, MATT!!!! https://t.co/8HIT5G3Pfn

This Gaetz interview on Tucker is wild. He just named a former DOJ staffer who he alleges is extorting him. He bizarrely brought up what he says is a previous, false allegation against Tucker(?) and then references a dinner with Tucker and some friend? Even Tucker seems confused.

Wait so Matt Gaetz is accused of trafficking a 17-year-old girl, and he went on Fox News to argue his innocence but he appeared to incriminate himself further and Tucker did the confused face? Do I more or less have it right?

LOL Matt Gaetz tries to bring Tucker Carlson into the conversation, says ‘you’ll remember her,’ and Tucker is not having any of it. pic.twitter.com/0XpmTm9yJm

becoming increasingly clear that in addition to (seemingly) having no legal counsel, Matt Gaetz does not have that special someone in his life to stop him from tweeting through it

Gaetz is a lawyer. If he took his own advice that he thought it would be smart move to immediately discuss DOJ investigation on national tv then he has a fool for a client. https://t.co/NTtb5LuHYg
