21st Century Fox Issues Statement on Lawsuit Against Roger Ailes

ailes-300x19621st Century Fox has issued a statement on the lawsuit filed by ex-Fox News host Gretchen Carlson against Fox News Chairman & CEO Roger Ailes.

Carlson, who recently left Fox, filed a lawsuit today alleging that Ailes sexually harassed her and made lots of inappropriate remarks about her, including Ailes reportedly saying, “I think you and I should have had a sexual relationship a long time ago.”

21st Century Fox issued a statement, obtained by Politico, in reaction to the lawsuit:

The Company has seen the allegations against Mr. Ailes and Mr. Doocy. We take these matters seriously. While we have full confidence in Mr. Ailes and Mr. Doocy, who have served the company brilliantly for over two decades, we have commenced an internal review of the matter.

Carlson also alleges harassment from former Fox & Friends co-host Steve Doocy as well.

Ailes himself issued a statement calling the statement “wholly without merit.”
