Anderson Cooper Hits Trump’s Claim He’d Make a Good General: We Will ‘Never Know’ Because He Never Served
CNN host Anderson Cooper questioned President Donald Trump’s recent claim he would have made a “good general” –pointing to the president’s multiple Vietnam War draft deferments and noting “the world will never know General Trump” because he never served.
Cooper began the segment by pointing to one of Trump’s recent tweets, in which he insulted General Stanley McChrystal, who led American forces in Afghanistan during his last position, but was pulled from hist post due to controversial comments he made to a Rolling Stone reporter.
“‘General’ McChrystal got fired like a dog by Obama,” Trump tweeted. “Last assignment a total bust. Known for big, dumb mouth. Hillary lover!”

“If the President feels the need for a better military perspective in the White House, he seems content just looking in the mirror,” Cooper said, before playing a clip of Trump claiming, “I think I would’ve made a good general, who knows.”
“Welp, who knows, the world will never know Gen. Trump, in part, because the President never set foot in a combat theater until last week with his trip to Iraq,” the host added.
Trump received five draft deferments for the Vietnam War, four of which were for education and one for “bone spurs.”
