Aww: Lance Corporal Aaron Leeks Asks First Lady Michelle Obama To The Marine Corps Ball

During a Toys-for-Tots drive in Washington, DC, 26-year-old Lance Corporal Aaron Leeks worked up the courage to ask the First Lady to next year’s Marine Corps Ball. Do not let it be said that the dude doesn’t plan things out well in advance.

Leeks told First Lady Michelle Obama that he would love to escort her to the annual event, but only “with your husband’s permission, of course.”

She responded positively, even offering the young man a hug and bringing over an aide to get his information.

White House press secretary Jay Carney, meanwhile, said Friday that “if the President’s watching this, this may be the first he’s heard of it,” but added that he was sure the First Lady was “was flattered by the invitation.”
