Bad Babysitter: Michigan Teen Tries To Sell 2-Year-Old Cousin On eBay
You know how it goes. You get stuck babysitting your little cousin, and the kid starts to bug you, and you’ve got a
million zillion things you’d rather be doing, right? Autumn Braden was so there on Sunday as she got increasingly bored taking care of her two-year-old cousin. And that’s how the two year old girl ended up on eBay in a post labeled “Kid for Sale.” Starting bid? $1,000. As the New York Daily News reports:
Autumn said she was just bored while baby-sitting the tot late Sunday and never thought anyone would take it seriously.
“All I was trying to do was see how eBay worked,” she told The Grand Rapids Press. “I had a picture of \[my cousin\] so I just put it up there.”
“I just thought eBay would delete it,” she said. “I would never do anything to harm her.”
Police arrived at the home Monday to make sure everything was okay after a bidder reported the posting. Officials in Michigan say the case will be forwarded to prosecutors to determine if any charges will be filed.
