Bernie Sanders Plans to Meet with #BlackLivesMatter Activists
The relationship between Bernie Sanders and the #BlackLivesMatter Movement has been strained over the last month ever since two members famously hijacked his campaign speech in Seattle. Nonetheless, it has been confirmed that the 2016 candidate will meet with their activists in Washington, D.C., tomorrow.
Sanders has reportedly reached out to the social organization shortly after the interruption, when prominent activist Deray McKesson complimented his ideas on racial justice:
@deray Let's do it. We will PM you this week to arrange.
— Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) August 17, 2015
While McKesson did not offer details at the time for when this meeting would happen or what would be talked about, he told his followers today that the meeting is definitely on:
We're meeting w/ @BernieSanders tomorrow afternoon in DC. We just confirmed it this morning. https://t.co/moHsSxMDPV

Sander’s meeting will the latest in a series of discussions held between #BlackLivesMatter and the Democratic presidential candidates. Previous major moments have included Hillary Clinton‘s meeting with members outside of a campaign event, and Martin O’Malley‘s apology for saying “all lives matter” at Netroots Nation.
