Big Bang Theory Star: Religion Will Never Be ‘Trendy’ in Hollywood Circles
Mayim Bialik, one of the stars of The Big Bang Theory, has something to say about her faith and how religion is viewed in Hollywood circles.
Bialik spoke to Fox411 about the “negative attention” she got for going to Israel and visiting a friend in the Israeli Defense Forces. For that she received “hatred and threats and anti-Semitism.”
She finds it alarming that “the fact that I’m Jewish” is enough for her to receive such negativity, but Bialik also has some thoughts on religion as it pertains to Hollywood, a place described by many conservatives as a godless liberal paradise:
“I think in general it’s never going to be trendy to be observant or religious in Hollywood circles. There are people I know of faith and we tend to congregate together. I study Jewish texts weekly. That’s something really positive to me when you’re a person of faith, it stays with you all the time.”
Bialik got a degree in neuroscience and admits she gets a lot of people surprised by how someone could reconcile both science and faith in their mind.
