Bill Clinton’s Childhood Home Damaged in Fire, Authorities Suspect Arson
Former President Bill Clinton‘s first childhood home in Arkansas was damaged by fire early Christmas morning, and authorities currently suspect arson.
According to USA Today, there was some minor damage to the house’s interior and exterior, and the flames had reportedly reached up to 8 feet high. The fire was put out relatively quickly.
Hope police chief J.R. Wilson said there was graffiti on the building. The number 55 was spray-painted inside, as well as “XX” above a graffiti’d tongue sticking out on one of the doors.
Wilson said, “We suspect arson, because of the point of origin. Also, there was strong smell of accelerant at the point of the origin of what appeared… to smell like gasoline.”
The National Park Service and the FBI are involved in the investigation.
