Bill Maher: Doesn’t It Help Trump If Hillary Continues to Be So Visible?

While last night’s broadcast of Real Time with Bill Maher has gotten tounges a-wagging over host Bill Maher saying he was a “house nigga” during his interview with Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE), there were other moments during the show that were worthy of attention.

During the panel discussion. Maher and writer Rebecca Traister talked about Hillary Clinton getting back in the limelight recently. Besides Clinton’s anti-Trump commencement speech at Wellesley College and a recent interview where she railed against the DNC, she was also the subject of a big profile piece by Traister in New York Magazine. The way Maher sees it, isn’t this a bad thing for those that want to damage President Donald Trump?

“Usually when people lose they go away for a while,” Maher noted. “Now, I know this is different.”

Traister objected to that observation, explaining that John Kerry was appearing on Meet the Press in early 2005 saying critical things about George W. Bush, echoing Clinton’s recent anti-Trump rhetoric.

“Be that as it may, does it not help Trump?” Maher asked. “Because as long as she’s out there, they can point to Hillary and rile up the rubes all over again. And it distracts from Trump’s problems which are legion.”

Traister did state that it was “problematic” but that she didn’t think the solution was to “rush her off the stage.”
