Bill Maher Takes on Mozilla Controversy: ‘There Is a Gay Mafia’
During the Overtime segment of Friday night’s Real Time, Bill Maher briefly addressed the controversy over Mozilla CEO Brendan Eich stepping down after his gay marriage views became public, musing on the idea of a “gay Mafia” that actually goes after people like that.
Ex-Republican congressman Tom Davis said it was just over a bit of money he donated years ago, and conservative columnist Carrie Sheffield pointed out, “He gave it when President Obama was still against gay marriage, so I don’t think it’s very fair.”
Maher, half-joking, observed, “I think there is a gay Mafia. I think if you cross them, you do get whacked, I really do.”
