Chuck Todd: Brian Williams ‘Moritified’ That He Offended Veterans

Not very many people in the NBC family have publicly spoken out on the controversy surrounding Brian Williams misremembering (to put it charitably) what happened to him when he was in Iraq back in 2003. But Chuck Todd just happened to be talking with The Daily Caller’s Matt Lewis on his podcast today and briefly address the scandal.

Todd was very uncomfortable with commenting publicly on it, having not directly spoken with Williams so far on the matter. But Todd conveyed, “I know he’s mortified by this and even more mortified because veterans are so––I mean, the last group of people he wants to offend are veterans, and that’s, you know, stinging him the most.”

Todd called Williams a friend who just mad a mistake and apologize. He told Lewis that Williams is personally having a hard time dealing with this embarrassing flub.
