Civil Rights Group Leader: ‘I Love Fox News’ but They Need to Stop Demonizing Black Men
Michael Meyers, the president of the New York Civil Rights Coalition, pops up as a guest on Fox News –– mostly Sean Hannity‘s show –– from time to time. Meyers spoke with Newsmax TV’s Steve Malzberg today about Baltimore and other recent race issues, before getting around to Fox News.
Meyers made something clear at the outset: “I love Fox News.” But he told Malzberg the network suits need to send a message to its on-air personalities (citing Megyn Kelly, Bill O’Reilly, and Geraldo Rivera) to “stop the racial baiting.”
He explained that they “keep talking about the so-called black male as a social problem” and even went so far as to say, “They paint black males as society’s monsters, and you do not put color on crime.”
And it pained Meyers to say this because he sees Fox “as the alternative to idiocy.”
