Conservative Writer’s Mask Photo Grosses Out Entirety of Twitter: ‘This Honestly Made Me Gag’

Bethany Mandel

Conservative writer and social media influencer Bethany Mandel sparked a reign of nauseating terror when she posted a photo with an anti-mask message that went viral.

Ms. Mandel posted a message Thursday criticizing parents who want their kids to wear masks to school amid a surge in coronavirus cases due to the Delta variant.

“How strange it is that progressives see scaring their children into wearing dirty, bacteria-filled cloth on their faces for 8-9 hours a day without complaint as evidence of their amazing parenting,” she wrote.

Then, in a follow-up tweet, she posted two photos of a vomit-inducing used disposable mask, and wrote “This mask is like this after one day.”

In a later tweet, Mandel clarified that the photo was of “a mask a six year old wore at summer camp for one day.”

The tweet sparked a flood of reaction from media figures, celebrities, and other verified Twitter users who have stomachs:

Mandel engaged with some critics, and retweeted a few posts from people who agreed with her.

You can just give a kid a new mask if it gets dirty. They’re disposable.

Mask requirements at schools have become a hot-button issue, as Republicans like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis have fought to overrule public health guidance and local elected officials by banning mask mandates.
