Daily Beast Journalist Shuts Down Katrina Pierson With One Tweet
Olivia Nuzzi is a journalist who works for the Daily Beast and has worked on profiles of Donald Trump-adjacent women for GQ. As a follow-up to her piece on press secretary Hope Hicks from June, her profile of surrogate Scottie Nell Hughes dropped early this morning.
In the latest piece, which you can read here, she mentioned another woman who makes her living by talking about — and mostly having to defend — Trump on television: Katrina Pierson.

Pierson — who really is most famous for that bullet necklace, which you can see at the top of this post — has a Twitter account full of shocking statements she made before signing on to help the Trump campaign. The suggestion that 9/11 was an inside job famously appears among her most controversial tweets.
Pierson either didn’t realize that or didn’t care because, according to Nuzzi’s own Twitter account, she sent the reporter an email that said, in part, “I understand your recent article accused me of saying 9/11 was an inside job without any evidence. It has become clear that modern journalism sources tweets out […]” In the screenshot posted by Nuzzi, the rest of Pierson’s musings on modern journalism are cut off.
Nuzzi posted the email, then posted a screenshot of the tweet.

The tweet says, “9/11 … An inside job?” and you can see it here yourself:
