David Brock Reportedly Rejoins Priorities USA After Bitter Split

david-brockAccording to the New York Times’ Maggie Haberman, Media Matters founder David Brock is set to rejoin the Hillary Clinton Super PAC Priorities USA, just months after he left in an acrimonious split with the group.

Brock left the group in February, accusing it of an “orchestrated political hit job” agist Media Matters and American Bridge. Brock alleged a “serious breach of trust between organizations that are supposed to work together toward common ends has created an untenable situation that leaves me no choice but to resign my position.” Tensions were reportedly especially frayed between Brock and Jim Messina.

However he was reportedly asked back by incoming CEO Guy Cecil, who oversaw sections of Clinton’s 2008 campaign. Per Haberman, “The return of Mr. Brock to the board, along with the presence of Mr. Cecil, suggests a realignment of power,” with Messina, an Obama campaign veteran, being somewhat sidelined. The Times reports that Messina will stay on as a chairman.

Brock proved especially useful in the months before Clinton formally announced his candidacy and began putting together a communications team, appearing on multiple shows to ferociously defend Clinton during scrutiny about her email server.
