David Paterson Now Running For Election Against The New York Times

Howie Kurtz may think that the media-at-large owes Gov. David Paterson an apology but it looks like Gov. Paterson is currently only interested in directing all his ire at the New York Times. Via the New York Observer comes this video of Paterson, who announced this weekend he would be running for reelection. The vid, cut into two parts, demonstrates Paterson’s change in tone when it comes to the NYT: Last week’s gentle reflection versus this week’s excoriation.

February 14: “I appreciate that — what the Times’ problem was, and I think they correctly said–I don’t know how they wrote it–but they said we were both on a head-on collision of circumstance, myself and The Times.”

February 20: “And this governor is not going to quit because tabloid newspapers print rumors and innuendo and lies, all the time waving the banner of a newspaper that could have cleared up the fact and chose not to do so.”

I noted a week or so ago that the whole NYT debacle might be the best thing that happened to Paterson and judging by this new tone that may just be the case. He’s found his platform and his evil Goliath! Now he can spend the next eight months saying ‘I have my faults my they’re not nearly as bad as the evil Times has made them out to be. I’m just a regular guy who got the short end of the stick’ etc. That is at least until Andrew Cuomo officially jumps in the race. Video below.
