During remarks to a gathering of governors at the White House yesterday, President Donald Trump commented on plans to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, noting that “nobody knew that health care was so complicated.”

In an appearance on CNN’s New Day this morning, Gov. Jay Inslee (D-WA) mocked the president over that statement by using an analogy. “I think when you get into an airplane and you look at the cockpit and you see the pilot saying, ‘Boy, look at all these gauges — this is really complicated,’ you know you have a problem,” Inslee told host Alisyn Camerota.

Inslee went on to explain that while the president has promised not to take anyone’s coverage away, neither he nor the Republicans in Washington have proposed an actual plan. He also commented on how the GOP has felt for years that they could just save the most popular provisions of the ACA while getting rid of the individual mandate and pushing tax cuts.

“Republicans are having a head on collision with reality,” he said.
