Donald Trump to Meet with Martin Luther King III for MLK Day

On Monday, incoming White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer tweeted the following:

Monday is, of course, Martin Luther King Day, the federally observed holiday celebrating the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr., which was January 15th. While according to Politico, a Trump visit to the Smithsonian Museum of African American History and Culture was cancelled due to scheduling conflicts, Spicer told Fox News that the president elect had never been scheduled to be in Washington, DC on Monday in the first place.

Trump’s meeting with King comes on the heels of a weekend where he tore into the civil rights activist’s old friend Rep. John Lewis (D-Georgia) repeatedly on Twitter. Lewis had raised Trump’s ire in an interview with Chuck Todd on NBC News’s “Meet the Press” where he said he saw Trump as an illegitimate president due to the sway of information gleaned from Russian hacking had on the electorate.
