Evangelist Bryan Fischer Clears the Air About His ‘Firing’
Evangelist Bryan Fischer cleared the air on his radio show today about Rachel Maddow reporting last night he was fired as spokesman and director of issues analysis for the American Family Association. And yes, it’s important to make that distinction because Fischer has not been completely fired by the AFA.
After all, he still has his radio show today, where he took a shot at “left-wing, low-information media sites” that he said completely distorted the situation.
Fischer did not address any of the background that Maddow did in her reporting (that the AFA would be paying for an RNC member trip to Israel, for one), and he didn’t exactly admit to being fired. All he said was that it’s hard to be a spokesman for a group, then also have a radio show where you spout off your own opinions.
The only concrete statement Fischer gave on yesterday’s news was, “I’ve taken off my hat as a spokesman for AFA and will continue to be your loyal, humble, and cheerful host of Focal Point.”
