Exclusive: The Late Andrew Breitbart On Gay Marriage, Race, And Abortion

Just over a year before his tragic, untimely death, the late Andrew Breitbart sat down for an impromptu interview following an early lunch with then-liberal filmmaker Lee Stranahan, liberal blogger Mike Stark, and me. In the last part of this never-before-seen interview, filmed during the 2011 Conservative Political Action Conference, things get really interesting as Andrew discusses his positions on gay marriage, abortion rights, and race.

As it happens, this last section of our interview was the best, but was also the one most badly damaged in the recovery process, so there are some glitches in the video. By this point, I seem to be waking up a little bit, probably due to the arrival of my food, a dish of handmade sausages in garlic sauce. Hot ‘n Juicy Crawdad is one of those places that has a 50-point scale of spiciness that goes from “mild” to something like “nuclear,” but even the mild sausages tasted like molten steel with fennel seed.

It’s also the point at which everyone sort of loses the self-consciousness of the interview setting, and the thing becomes much more like a regular conversation (and we finally get to see what the mysterious Mike Stark looks like). As good as this section is, my stupid camera ran out of virtual film just as it was getting really good.
