Ezra Klein’s Rubio Tweet Contains a Very Weird Autocorrect…
Autocorrect can screw up your meaning a lot, but this one from Ezra Klein just takes the cake:
Here's what Marco Rubio tostada on taxes, Medicare, marijuana, same sex marriage, and more: http://t.co/Sm3CwXZ45R
— Ezra Klein (@ezraklein) April 14, 2015
Everyone was understandably confused by how anything he tweeted could have possibly autocorrected to “tostada” and/or in the mood for some mockery:
@ezraklein tostada?

@ezraklein Tostada? Is that dog whistle racism? pic.twitter.com/iU5Znco9Hw

@ezraklein best spellcheck ever

@ezraklein So is autocorrect racist, or is it just you?
— Ally (@newscat44) April 14, 2015
I think Ezra Klein's autocorrect is racist #tostada pic.twitter.com/JR90HICNUV

But is the tostada from Chipotle?
— Timothy P Carney (@TPCarney) April 14, 2015
GOP race will be decided by the same thing that decides all national elections: Tostada
— Allahpundit (@allahpundit) April 14, 2015
To be fair @ezraklein stole that tostada from @NateSilver538
— Stephen Miller (@redsteeze) April 14, 2015
(That last one’s a reference to this.)
Klein did not take down the tweet, just explained in a subsequent one what he meant to say:
Sigh. Previous tweet should have read "stands," not, as autocorrect decided, "tostada."
