Florida Man Declares Himself a ‘Sovereign Citizen,’ Gets Arrested

A Florida man has declared himself to be a sovereign citizen, and therefore doesn’t recognize the authority of the local, state, or federal government. Well, this man ended up getting arrested because he refused to enroll his young daughter in the public school system.

Police showed up at Joseph Rosa‘s house after people noticed his daughter was no longer in school. He got angry when they confronted him, pointing at his NO TRESPASSING sign and shouting, “Under what authority do you call me by that name?!” Rosa was arrested after he didn’t show up to court for a truancy hearing.

In court, Rosa told the judge, “I’m the executor of the state of Joseph Anthony Rosa. I demand immediate discharge of the state known as Joseph Anthony Rosa.” The judge ordered him to send his daughter back to school, with the threat of a few months in prison if he doesn’t.
