Fox News’ Brit Hume: Trump’s Friendly Behavior Towards ‘Thug’ Kim Jong Un is ‘Disconcerting’

Fox News political analyst Brit Hume had a more pessimistic take of President Trump‘s ongoing summit with North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un.
So far, things have been very cordial between the two leaders from their handshake to their bilateral meeting. However, Hume took exception to Trump saying that “it’s an honor” to be engaging with the dictator and is banking on the savviness of Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who had previously met with the dictator while still serving as the CIA Director.
Disconcerting to say the least to see POTUS shaking hands with the thug Kim Jong Un and saying he’s “honored.” Will only be worth it if Mike Pompeo is right about what he sensed in his NK meetings. We’ll know soon enough.

“Disconcerting to say the least to see POTUS shaking hands with the thug Kim Jong Un and saying he’s ‘honored,'” Hume tweeted. “Will only be worth it if Mike Pompeo is right about what he sensed in his NK meetings. We’ll know soon enough.”
Hume further elaborated his thinking on the summit.
That’s a false choice. There is the option of containment, which worked for half a century with the Soviets. It’s dangerous and imperfect, but it’s not war.

Containment of USSR didn’t predate such missiles and it worked. You could argue it’s still working. We lived under the threat of a Soviet attack for many years. North Korea in a similar position. An attack would mean their certain destruction. That’s a deterrent.

Who’s we?

I see little evidence that the Kims, evil though they are, are irrational or suicidal. They’ve played a weak hand shrewdly for a long time. They are survivors.
