Glenn Beck thinks Bill Maher‘s comments on Islam are right on point, and said on his radio show today he wants to reach out to Maher so they can have a one-on-one conversation about this and other issues they can find common ground on. And Beck is dead serious about this, because, he revealed, he’s sending Maher an invitation to talk.
Last week, Maher argued with Charlie Rose that Islam is unique among religions in how backwards and violent it is. He said it’s grossly unfair to say there are Christian extremists too because “vast numbers of Christians do not believe that if you draw a picture of Jesus Christ you should get killed for it.”
Beck couldn’t agree any more with Maher, and said he’d love to engage in a “civil dialogue” with the comic over the issue. He said despite his faith, he gets along well with atheists.
And so Beck pleaded, “Bill, can you find your way to a pivot point? Can you find a way to saying, ‘You know what, there are good people that I don’t agree with.’ Maybe we should start talking to each other.”
