GOP Rep.: ISIS Not ‘Afraid to Put a Bomb in Lower Manhattan’

Congressman Peter King is very concerned about the threat ISIS poses to the United States, and in comments to Business Insider earlier today, he makes that threat rather stark with a warning that the terrorist group certainly has the capability to plant a bomb in New York City.

For anyone who doesn’t think ISIS is a direct terrorist threat to the U.S., King notes that al-Qaeda wasn’t considered as such on September 10th, 2001. He said, “We have to assume at least five of them are going to try to get into this country. And so, I would say the threat is as much from them as it is from Al Qaeda.”

King has previously said that not only is al-Qaeda as great a threat to the U.S. as ISIS, but that ISIS is currently more powerful than al-Qaeda was on 9/11.

In his comments today, King went so far as to say, “Hey, if they beheaded two Americans on television, they’re not going to be afraid to put a bomb in Lower Manhattan.”
