Hillary Didn’t Know What ‘C’ Meant in Her Emails; but Apparently, Neither Does Trump
Donald Trump kept hammering Hillary Clinton over her email scandal on Sunday night, but the Republican presidential nominee made a mistake in his effort that the Twitterverse was only too happy to point out.
For the past few days, the Clinton campaign has been fending off certain implications about her investigation by the FBI, notes of which have now been publicly released. One of the most troubling details from the notes was Clinton’s claim that she wasn’t aware that the “C” mark in her emails denoted information that was classified as “confidential.”
Trump pounced on the news, breaking from the “crooked” moniker to give Clinton a blast from the past à la Ted Cruz:
Lyin’ Hillary Clinton told the FBI that she did not know the “C” markings on documents stood for CLASSIFIED. How can this be happening?

Beyond the content of Trump’s tweet, however, several people have noted how Trump’s tweet includes an error of his own where the “C” mark is concerned:
Nope. The C stands for CONFIDENTIAL. https://t.co/W5Vxe3V9Rc

Mr. Trump, I know you’re new to this so let me help you here. “C” stands for CONFIDENTIAL, not classified. https://t.co/8CIN72JRL8

(C) stands for CONFIDENTIAL. Confidential, Secret, Top Secret are levels of classification. DoD Directive 5200.01. https://t.co/j3jzMrIg5z

Details, schme-tails, right? Of course, Trump’s campaign manager followed up on the real estate mogul’s tweet to tighten up the message somewhat:
A former U.S. senator, former first lady & certainly the sitting Sec of State should know what the “c” in classified material means.
