Hillary on SCOTUS Ruling: Time for Republican Attacks to End

hillary-clintonOn Thursday, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled 6-3 on the case of King v. Burwell, upholding a crucial policy aspect on the subsidies provided by the Affordable Care Act. Hillary Clinton released a statement soon afterwards, saying that while minor improvements could still be made, she applauded the decision and promised to make it a featured issue for 2016.

“I’ve fought for the promise of quality, affordable health care for every American for decades. And I’m not going to stop now,” said Clinton. “The Affordable Care Act isn’t perfect, but the evidence is clear: it’s working.”

Clinton also took the opportunity to call out the conservative-led attacks on the Act since its inception, and proclaimed the latest ruling as the final sign for Republicans to move on. “Republicans in Congress have waged a sustained attack against this promise,” Clinton blasted while saying that the GOP has not proposed any viable alternatives. “Now that the Supreme Court has once again re-affirmed the ACA as the law of the land, it’s time for the Republican attacks to end.”

After addressing her own efforts on health care and additional comments on the Act, Clinton finished her statement by promising to challenge any 2016 opponents looking to repeal or change health care policy. “Anyone seeking to lead our country should stand up and support this decision.”
