‘Instead of Trolling…’ Huckabee, Gavin Newsom Fight on Twitter over Kim Davis
One of the talking points Mike Huckabee has used to argue in support of Kim Davis, the Kentucky clerk currently in jail for refusing to issue gay marriage licenses, is that when California Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom was the mayor of San Francisco in 2004, he defied state law and ordered the county clerk to issue gay marriage licenses.
The licenses were annulled in the end, but Huckabee has asked why he wasn’t thrown in jail like Davis was.
Well, Newsom fired back on Twitter yesterday, and they got into a contentious back-and-forth on the issue:
. @GovMikeHuckabee you are dead wrong on the Kim Davis issue — we issued marriage licenses because we believed the law at that time

Once the court ordered me to stop, I did. I was never in contempt of court — unlike Kim Davis. Get your facts right @GovMikeHuckabee
