With one tweet Tuesday evening, Salon editor-at-large Joan Walsh managed to draw hours worth of ridicule from conservatives on the social media site and beyond.
Around 9 p.m., Walsh tweeted that she knows “more than the average white person” about black history, “which,” she added, “only ensures that I know less than I think I do.”
That set off a frenzy of mockery from many of Twitter’s vocal conservatives:
The mockery continued on into the evening. Walsh never responded to the critics, except for two re-tweets of choice remarks:
