Joe Arpaio: I’m Still Behind Trump ‘Pardon or No Pardon’
Tuesday night at President Donald Trump‘s campaign-style rally in Phoenix, controversial former Maricopa County, AZ Sheriff Joe Arpaio did not get the pardon which had been rumored for much of the past week. Nonetheless, Arpaio is standing by his man.
Appearing on Cavuto: Coast to Coast, Arpaio talked about the rally and said that he thought it unwise to attend — given the possible demonstrations against him.
“I was not invited but my gut told me not to show up,” Arpaio said. He added, “I didn’t want to be the cause of any demonstrations, riots and that type of thing. I miss not going. I’ve been to all of his rallies, but safety was more important to me right now, public safety…No one told me not to come, but no one said I was invited either.”
Later in the segment, Arpaio discussed not being pardoned, and said he wasn’t upset even though he thought “in his gut” he would get it. Still, he’s not turning on Trump.
“I have a great deal of respect for him. I always will have, pardon or no pardon,” Arpaio said. “I’m with him ’til the end. As long as he’s the President, I will support him.”
