John Patrick Bedell Identified As Pentagon Shooter: ‘Well Dressed, Well Educated, Well Armed’

The shooter in last night’s Pentagon police attack has been identified as John Patrick Bedell, 36. According to reports Bedell, a California native, attempted to enter the Pentagon by force, shooting and wounding two Pentagon officers before being shot and killed himself. The police described him as “well dressed, well educated and well armed.”

The police also said that while Bedell “had issues” and that “there were records of previous brushes with law enforcement officials” there was “no indication at this point that there is any domestic or international terrorist nexus.”

Be that as it may, I’m not sure that will keep the cablers from spending the day speculating about whether he was associated in some shape or form with the Tea Party movement. Much like Andrew Stack, who flew a plane into an IRS building in Texas last month, Bedell also left behind long a long trail rambling rants on the Internet, often times in the form form of videos. I don’t suspect that similarity, accompanied by the violents acts will be lost on many media folk. I also wouldn’t be surprised if one of the fallouts is that RNC does doubletime today disassociating themselves from the fear mongering presentation that was revealed earlier this week.
