Josh Earnest Tells Horrible Dad Joke at White House Briefing

Screen Shot 2016-05-11 at 6.26.58 PMDying is easy, they say, but comedy is hard, and nowhere is that more true than in the White House briefing room. At Wednesday’s daily briefing, CBS News Radio correspondent Mark Knoller set Press Secretary Josh Earnest up with a question about the National Bison Legacy Act, which makes the American bison our country’s first national mammal, “above even humans,” according to Knoller. Earnest responded with perhaps the most groan-worthy quip in briefing room history, but thankfully offered no rejoinder to Knoller’s UFO-themed follow-up:

In the end, though, the joke really is on Josh Earnest for telling Knoller that the Bison bill “has passed through Congress, and I would anticipate that the President will sign it.”

That bit of news should come as a big surprise to one Joshua Earnest, who released the following statement two days ago:

On Monday, May 9, 2016, the President signed into law:

…H.R. 2908, the “National Bison Legacy Act,” which adopts the North American bison as the national mammal of the United States.

Maybe the aliens wiped his memory.
