Joy Behar’s Uncomfortable Chris Christie Roast: ‘You’re Toast’
Ryan Lizza’s longread about Chris Christie from this week’s New Yorker opened in medias res at a roast in honor of a former New Jersey governor, in which several comedians and -iennes took shots at the embattled current governor — especially The View‘s Joy Behar. Tuesday morning Lizza posted video of Behar’s performance, in which she zinged Chrstie on his weight, his scandals, and his potentially dashed presidential ambitions.
“I really don’t know about the presidency,” she said. “Let me put it to you this way, in a way that you’d appreciate: you’re toast.”

“When I first heard that he was accused of blocking off three lanes on the bridge, I said, ‘What the hell is he doing, standing in the middle of the bridge?” she cracked. At one point Christie tried to take her notes, and when he said something to her, she dared, “Why don’t you get up here at the microphone instead of being such a coward?”
