Lena Dunham Takes Shot at O’Reilly While Praising Gretchen Carlson

At Variety‘s Power of Women event today, Lena Dunham took the stage.

While the Girls star addressed the assembled powerful women, she invoked one whose actions last summer may have had a more far-reaching effect than she initially imagined: Gretchen Carlson.

Last year she sued over claims that Fox News head honcho Roger Ailes had sexually harassed her. Soon enough, other women had come forward and Ailes was forced out of Fox. This month, reports of settlements paid to women who alleged harassment from Bill O’Reilly resulted in him leaving the network as well.

“When you work in a corporate infrastructure, the challenge about coming out about sexual harassment is so massive and to see a woman surmounted that and bravely made space for other women to do the same is deeply inspiring,” Dunham said.

She went on to jab O’Reilly over the reported details of his 2004 sexual harassment suit from Andrea Mackris. Watch above, via Variety.
