On the third day of oral arguments in the Supreme Court case over President Obama’s health care law, discussion turned to the issue of severability — that is to say, what will become of Obamacare if the justices decide to strike down the requirement that all Americans must purchase health insurance.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg argued in favor of saving the rest of the health care law, saying “a wrecking operation and a salvage job, a more conservative approach would be a salvage job.”
Justices Antonin Scalia and Samuel Alito disputed whether Congress would have passed the law without the individual mandate.
