In the aftermath of the news that Donald Trump Jr. agreed to a meeting with a Russian lawyer to get damaging info on Hillary Clinton from the Russian government, one of the conservative talking points that has come to the forefront to defend Trump Jr. involves the Obama administration. Namely, that then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch approved the attorney’s visa so she could come into the country, a point that was made by the president today.
During tonight’s broadcast of Fox News’ The Five, co-hosts Meghan McCain and Juan Williams mixed it up over the subject. And things got a bit tense and heated.
Williams issued an explanation for Lynch providing the lawyer with a special visa. Saying that we was going to give “some facts” and “reality,” Williams went on to say that she was “allowed into the country to represent her client in an international case.”
McCain immediately pushed back, responding that someone like her close to the Kremlin “never should have been allowed in this country to begin with — that is on the Obama Administration.”
And then she went off.
“I’m sorry that your party never took any of this seriously for years and years and years!” She said. “Those are the facts! I am not manifesting something that doesn’t exist.”
She added, “I am telling you that Obama never took Russia seriously and that is why this woman somehow ended up in the country. She wasn’t flagged in any way.”
This led to Williams and McCain yelling over each other, with McCain shouting that it wasn’t “normal” that the attorney got into the country and somehow made it into Trump Tower to meet with Trump Jr.
This isn’t the first time these two have gone at it. The two had a memorable tussle back in May over health care.
