Megyn Kelly Knocks Trump: My Success Isn’t Because of my ‘Dark Year’ with Him
Megyn Kelly sat down with Stephen Colbert last night, where she spent a considerable amount of time reminding people that she was a respected force in the media long before her highly anticipated primetime special.
The Late Show host congratulated Kelly for becoming a kind of “cultural icon” with her election coverage, all while she weathered Donald Trump‘s storms against her for the better half of a year.
“My goal this past year has been to conduct myself with dignity and like a professional,” Kelly said. “I feel like a lot of people in the country wanted to see that sit-down. It had to happen at some point.”
One particular point that Kelly and Colbert touched on was that Trump once claimed that he was responsible for her journalistic success because of all the publicity surrounding their one-sided war. To this claim, Kelly noted that Trump was a non-factor to her climb up the ladder, and that she made The Kelly File America’s number two cable news show even before the fateful debate.
“I’m glad you said that, because I would hate anyone to think that your success is related to his hostility towards you,” Colbert said, “because you have all the success you have because of your work and you’d be here because of what you do, not because someone attacked you.”
Kelly’s primetime special with Trump is airing tonight at 8 P.M. on FOX Broadcasting
