Michael Cohen Lawyer Lanny Davis Fires Back at Giuliani, Trump Tweet on Tapes: ‘Why So Angry?’

Michael Cohen lawyer Lanny Davis has responded to President Trump lashing out this morning over the bombshell of a Cohen tape.

To recap: news broke yesterday of a recording of Cohen and Trump talking before the election about a payment to Karen McDougal, the former Playboy model who alleged Trump had an affair with her.

Rudy Giuliani claimed yesterday the tape would be exculpatory and show he did nothing wrong, while Trump himself took to Twitter today to lash out over the tape and insist he did nothing wrong:

Inconceivable that the government would break into a lawyer’s office (early in the morning) – almost unheard of. Even more inconceivable that a lawyer would tape a client – totally unheard of & perhaps illegal. The good news is that your favorite President did nothing wrong!

Davis tweeted a statement this morning swiping at both Giuliani and the President, asking, “Why so angry?”

The strategy of @realdonaldtrump @potus @RudyGiuliani is flawed; just as is #Trump’s false #Twitter statement made against @michaelcohen212 this morning. Rudy claims the tape is “exculpatory”. Why so angry?

Yesterday Davis put out a statement saying, “Obviously, there is an ongoing investigation, and we are sensitive to that. But suffice it to say that when the recording is heard, it will not hurt Mr. Cohen. Any attempt at spin can not change what is on the tape.”
