Vice President Mike Pence told reporters today there is “no comparison” between the new report on his emails and the Hillary Clinton email issue that dominated a significant portion of the 2016 campaign.
A new report by the Indianapolis Star revealed that Pence, while he was governor, conducted state business on a personal email account and had been hacked last summer.
Given all the attention given to Clinton’s email server by the GOP, there’s been many accusations of hypocrisy. And this tweet has been getting renewed attention as a result:
.@realDonaldTrump and I commend the FBI for reopening an investigation into Clinton's personal email server because no one is above the law.

The Washington Post has a complete analysis of the similarities and differences in these two situations, concluding that “Using a private account if you’re the governor of Indiana, where it’s legal to do so and you’re ostensibly dealing with much less-sensitive information, is much different than using a private email account exclusively to do work as secretary of state, who has access to many if not most of the nation’s top secrets.”
And in the video above, Pence himself told reporters today that there is “no comparison” between him and Clinton, saying that what he did was in “full compliance with Indiana’s laws.”
