Miss Piggy Wrote a Piece for Time Magazine on Feminism
TIME Magazine often invites lots of people to write opinion pieces for them. Well, today we can add a Muppet to the list, because none other than Miss Piggy herself has a TIME piece out today.
And what’s it on? Feminism.
You see, the Sackler Center for Feminist Art honors women of all backgrounds for their achievements, and today they’re honoring Miss Piggy with an award.
And so in TIME, Miss Piggy defends her feminist credentials. “I believe,” she says, “that any woman who refuses to accept society’s pre-conceived notions of who or what they can be is a feminist.”
And, of course, she refers to herself as moi.
Now, the only thing that might strike you a little odd about this is certain lines that, quite frankly, you might not exactly imagine coming out of the mouth of Miss Piggy. For instance:
And it is true; I did not burn my bra. Was this a political statement? No, it was simple common-sense economics. When one pays top dollar for intimate apparel like moi does, setting it ablaze is wasteful, improvident and highly incendiary.
Probably a good move for Miss Piggy to save the “bra-burning” talk for the web.
